I forgot to tell you in yesterday's rumor roundup that there might be press releases instead of an actual event, and today Apple has proven that rumor with the first device to be released: the iPad mini 7, the first iPad mini in 3 years. Here are all the new features!
First, the new iPad mini supports Apple Intelligence with its A17 Pro chip (a high-end iPhone chip goes into the iPad mini!? Wow!) Speaking of the A17 Pro chip, it packs a 30% faster CPU and 25% faster GPU than the previous-gen mini 6, along with Wi-Fi 6E and USB 3 capabilities. The other big improvement is Apple Pencil Pro/USB-C capability. Blue replaces pink for colors, and the price is still $499 (which is technically much cheaper given that that $499 is now for 128GB instead of 64GB of storage).
Comparing with rumors, everything is the same (except that there is also Apple Pencil USB-C capability, there isn't Hover, that there is also double the storage, there is no jelly scrolling issue solving (not that Apple bothers to mention in its press release), and that there's no Bluetooth 5.3 (what!? maybe Apple just didn't bother to mention it during its press release!)).
