The Reporters Sans Frontières (translating to Reporters Without Borders) has called for Apple to ban one of its Apple Intelligence features, Notification Summaries. This was prompted by the worst of the feature's mistakes: summarizing BBC News notifications to say that Luigi Mangione, the killer of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare (Brian Thompson) shot himself instead of the CEO. This happened not even a day after Apple Intelligence was made available in the UK with iOS 18.2. This has already happened before, according to 9to5Mac, specifying when a New York Times notification summary said that Netanyahu was arrested (in reality, he was only given an arrest warrant). The RSF has officially complained to Apple (see link at https://rsf.org/en/rsf-urges-apple-remove-its-new-generative-ai-feature-after-it-wrongly-attributes-false-information), and the complaint is "somewhat vague" according to 9to5Mac. BBC's complaint can also be seen at https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd0elzk24dno, specifically citing how there should be EU regulations on AI like this.
