Here's my hands-on review of the new M4 iMac!

Screen

From our previous 21.5" iMac (five years old and slowing down when we switched), the new screen is 2" bigger, at 23.5" to be exact. The size is still shocking me while I write this, because while I was wishing for a screen just a tiny bit bigger than the old one, this is way big (not to say that it's too big, however). I can't test the reflection-reducing nano-texture screen feature, because our iMac is not configured with that feature, but still: I don't know if it's the iMac wallpaper, but I haven't noticed any reflection yet when the screen is on.

Performance

The performance of our new iMac is noticeably faster, even when it was a bit slow at times (but hey, I've only tested setup performance!). I am amazed by how fast the iMac turns on, too. Also, some new macOS Sequoia features have been nice, and finally, I never knew I missed those satisfying noises when you put something in the Trash or on the desktop (we didn't have it on our old one for some reason; did the Fun-Squencher in me turn that off in Settings, or what?). Oh, and I forgot to mention: there's an annoying quirk in Stage Manager, where every time you turn it on, your files disappear unless you click the desktop, and while it's something you can easily turn off in Settings (just go to Desktop and Dock and check the "In Stage Manager" box under Show Items), I wonder why it's the default in the first place.

Design

The new iMac design is nice and more modern-looking (especially the color and a bit lesser the color-matching keyboard (only the mouse's underside is colored, so you really can't see the color much), which is blue for us), but it's a bit sad that the back is facing the wall; that's the best part of the design. Also, I don't really like how the camera looks on the device, just sitting as a black circle on white bezel, a bit too prominent.

Outro

This is not much, but hey, it's only been a few hours since setup! I'll report back in a week with more solid opinions, including a camera test! Also, here are some images of our new iMac!
